Margarette Fernandez, LGPC

Margarette Lorraine Fernandez is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) working toward full licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Towson University.


During her graduate training, Margarette completed her practicum and internship at MATClinics, where she worked with clients experiencing substance use disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. She provided individual counseling for adults from diverse cultural backgrounds. In her clinical work, she draws from approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and parts work.

Margarette is passionate about creating a safe, culturally sensitive, and inclusive space where clients feel supported in their healing and growth. She takes a client-centered and multicultural approach, recognizing the impact of relationships and cultural systems on well-being.


In addition to her clinical work, Margarette has conducted research on Asian American mental health, college student belonging and well-being, and attitudes toward the neurodiversity movement through thematic analysis. 


Outside of counseling and research, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking workout classes, and baking.
